His community activities include a six-month term as a community representative on The Olympian's editorial board. Ottavelli is energetic, articulate, passionate and committed to building bridges on the council where they don't exist today. He has the leadership experience on the Thurston Regional Planning Council to make things happen. Look for him to use his skills to bring consensus on a fourth fire station and as a catalyst for downtown housing. He wants to get things done instead of studying issues to death. This is an easy choice for voters. I want to thank you for taking the time to learn about how I will serve our city, because all of us are affected by what Olympia does.

I am a LOCAL candidate, having spent my entire lifetime in this community. I attended local schools, I shop at local businesses, and I enjoy…and learn from…ALL of the benefits this region has to offer. I am a struggling small business owner and I believe small businesses are the economic engine that drives this region. I have the experience necessary to move our community forward having served on the Thurston County Planning Commission and in a host of local volunteer and professional positions. My wife Amy and are committed to raising our 15 month old son in Olympia, and OUR first priority is improving the quality of life for everyone.

I believe my vision is YOUR vision…OUR vision—we share a desire for a livable community with affordable housing built in a way we can be proud of, living wage jobs, a clean and safe environment, quality schools, a vibrant downtown, and an active arts community. We all speak of these goals. Unfortunately, we have had a hard time implementing our vision. The good news is that our vision for Olympia already exists in the comprehensive plan and in the stated goals of the council, which I fully support. These are the goals:

1. Invest in downtown - we need to solve our parking needs and to keep the streets clean and safe. And, of course, we need to develop market rate housing to ensure a vibrant 18 hour downtown.

2. Put sustainability into action – Our community is growing at an alarming rate that requires us to move forward responsibly. We need sound long range planning to ensure responsible growth.

3. Improve the effectiveness of government -- NO non-city issues. As your council member I will have a LOCAL job to do, and that job will be my number one focus and priority.

And finally, in addition to the Council’s goals, I believe we need to work well with our friends and neighbors. Many problems and issues go beyond our city borders and we must have an excellent working relationship with everyone that shares a stake in the future of our region.

You want someone who can work with diverse groups of people. You want someone who will help the council find common ground so that we can move forward. You want someone who will both listen and respond reasonably to concerns. You want someone who is a councilmember for ALL citizens of Olympia, basing decisions on what will result in the greatest good for our entire community. I am that person.

I pledge to do my part to build an Olympia that is inclusive, not divisive. My attitude is positive and proactive, and you will find me an honest and direct partner. I am running for Olympia City Council. Let’s work together to build a better Olympia, an Olympia which we can all feel proud of.

I am Craig Ottavelli, and I am YOUR candidate for the Olympia City Council, position number 2.

Firefighters

and

Thurston County Democrats Endorse Ottavelli for City Council

http://www.theolympian.com/southsound/story/227292.html

**************************************************

Craig Joins Citizen's Network

Craig Ottavelli joins the Citizen’s Network, an organization dedicated to promoting open and transparent government. While there are instances where sensitive information must remain proprietary, generally speaking, I believe transparency is in the best interest of all citizens."

For more information about the Citizen's Network go to http://www.washingtoncog.org/.

Please join us and many, many more in voting for Craig in the General Election

AMY TOUSLEY – Former Olympia City Council Candidate, Olympia Planning Commission Chair
THURSTON COUNTY DEMOCRATS – Only endorsee for position 2
OLYMPIA FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 468
FREEDOM VOTE – Highest Endorsement
REALTORS ASSOCIATION
JEFF KINGSBURY &
